Lincolnshire Gardens Events 2020

Throughout the year members of the Lincolnshire Gardens group put on a wide range of special events, here we can only list a few of them, but there should be something for everyone.

Ellicar Gardens.

21st February 11am-3pm

6th March 11am-3pm

 Winter garden as seen on Gardeners World 

Open Gardens, winter garden special with fragrant winter shrubs, hellebores, snowdrops, winter bark, coloured stems, and early bulbs. 

Elsewhere in the 5 acre gardens visitors can enjoy swathes of coloured cornus, ornamental willows, winter trees, grasses and seedbeds left standing in the borders, winter blossom, winter bulbs, snowdrops, and our natural pool like a huge sky mirror reflecting the winter sky. Lots of winter birds are visiting the garden this time of year.

Tea room open with tea, coffee and delicious home baked cakes. Plant yard with usual perennials, shrubs and grasses for sale. Small shop with bespoke gardening tools.

Winter garden special talks and mini tours throughout the day with owner Sarah Murch.



Events to be attended by the Fern Nursery in 2020


May 3. 11am to 4pm.

Doddington Hall Plant Fair. Doddington near Lincoln.

Enjoy a broad selection of plant stalls and garden sundries under the gaze of the East Front. Speak with friendly expert growers about your own planting ideas and hear their recommendations and suggestions; come away inspired!

Free entry to garden. Refreshments provided by Binbrook Bowling Club from 11am. Come and watch the tournament.

Sunday 21st July

Binbrook open gardens. We are open along with many others in the village. Entry and map of gardens at the village hall.

Monday 26th August open day.

Open garden for the Red Cross, 3 children free.

Refreshments provided by Binbrook Bowling Club from 11am. Live bowling tournament.

Gunby Hall

Snowdrop Walks Week 10 – 14 February, 10am – 11am

Adult £9, Child £6 Join us for a one hour guided walk to see where Gunby's many snowdrops are blooming. Warm up in the tea-room with a hot drink and some cake, which is included in the price.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt 10 – 13 April, 11am – 5pm £2.50 per trail (on top of normal admission charges, no admission charges for National Trust members or under 5s).

Collect your map, hunt high and low to find all the clues, use your brain power to solve the puzzle and win a yummy egg as your well-deserved reward. Visit throughout the Easter weekend .

1863-1963: 100 years of Music at Gunby - Launch Event 8 May, 11am – 5pm

Normal admission charges apply, no admission charges for National Trust members or under 5s.

Join us for a fun musical day that starts the focus of 100 years of music at Gunby. The house will be open .

Hidden Gunby 28 May, 10:30 – 11:30

Come and see the areas of Gunby that are normally not open to the public.

Rose Day 21 June, 11am – 5pm

Normal admission charges apply, no admission charges for National Trust members or under 5s.

Enjoy displays of the 40+ rose varieties found in the Gunby gardens as well as trade and craft stalls with lovely wares. Three floors of the house will be open with lots of flower arrangements containing roses in the rooms too. This time of year our many roses in the gardens are at their best. Bring the family for a fun day out and come and smell the Gunby roses!

Enjoy the love matching antics in Jane Austen's classic novel this July when Chapterhouse Theatre Company will perform Laura Turner's open air theatre performance in the Gunby gardens. Bring a picnic and low-backed chair. Adult £17, Child £10, Family (2&2) £48

Gunby National Meadows Days 4 & 5 July, 11am – 5pm

Normal admission charges apply, no admission charges for National Trust members or under 5s.

Join us on 4 and 5 July to celebrate National Meadows Day. Enjoy free one hour trailer rides through the Gunby parkland to find out more about the importance of meadows and how we look after them. T

NGS Day 2 August, 11am – 5pm

Normal admission charges apply, no admission charges for National Trust members or under 5s.

Join in our annual celebration of the Gunby gardens, whilst raising money for the charities of the National Gardens Scheme. There will be plant sales, craft and trade stalls and three floors of the house are open too. The £7 admission charge includes entry to the house (normally £9.50)



Open Air Theatre - A Midsummer Night’s Dream Saturday 15 August 7pm (gates open 6pm)

Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents Shakespeare's best-loved romantic comedy. Let yourself be whisked away on a thrilling journey to the most magical places with Gunby as your back-drop.

Bring a picnic and low-backed chair. Adult £17, Child £10, Family (2&2) £48

Heritage Open Day 13 September, 11am – 5pm

No admission charges Discover your local heritage free of charge. Visit Gunby Hall and Gardens for free as part of the Heritage Open Day weekend. Enjoy three floors of the house and explore eight acres of gardens. Bring the family and enjoy a free day out!

Discover all things 'apple' at Gunby. Explore a display of more than 50 Gunby apple varieties grown in the gardens. Bring your own apples to be identified .
